DOH Abu Dhabi Nurse Exam (Pearson VUE): Booking, ID & Test Day

Nurses preparing for Abu Dhabi lose more money at the test-centre reception desk than anywhere else in the process. Not to the exam — to the door. Wrong identification, or arriving late, and you are turned away with the fee already spent and no transfer to another date.

This is a logistics guide to the DOH licensing exam: how the booking is unlocked, where you actually book it, what you must carry into the building, and what happens on the day. First, the mistake that wastes a month: Pearson VUE, not Prometric

Dubai's DHA exam is delivered by Prometric. Abu Dhabi's DOH exam is delivered by Pearson VUE. They are different companies, different websites, different test-centre networks and different door policies. A Prometric centre cannot seat you for a DOH exam, and a nurse who has prepared using Dubai advice — which is most of the advice online — will follow booking instructions that do not apply. You cannot book the DOH exam directly

This is the part that confuses people who try to start at the Pearson VUE website. You do not buy a DOH seat the way you buy an IELTS seat. Booking is released to youby the DOH once your application has cleared, and it arrives as a link inside your Abu Dhabi government account. Pearson VUE's own instruction is explicit: “Following the completion of the DOH payment in TAMM, a link to redirect candidates to Pearson VUE page will appear under the action drop down.”

Where that link actually is in TAMM

“Under the action drop-down” is Pearson VUE's own wording, and it is where most nurses stall — TAMM has several action drop-downs. Pearson VUE publishes a candidate step-by-step booking document for the DOH programme that gives the route screen by screen:

Because the chain starts with credential verification, the realistic first move is still getting DataFlow moving — nothing downstream of it can be booked until it clears.

Two help desks, and only one of them owns your problem

Because the booking is a chain across two organisations, so is the support. Pearson VUE's DOH programme page publishes both desks side by side, and sending your question to the wrong one costs you days you may not have before a seat expires.

The opening hours matter as much as the addresses. Pearson VUE's candidate desk is published as 08:00 to 17:00 UAE time Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 12:00 on Fridays (08:00 to 11:00 during Ramadan); the DOH desk runs a Monday-to-Friday daytime window. Both exclude Saturday, Sunday and UAE holidays. So if something goes wrong on a Friday afternoon before a Monday exam, there is no one to fix it until the morning of the exam itself. Check your booking on Thursday, not on the weekend.

Where the seats are

Pearson VUE runs authorised test centres in many countries, so an overseas nurse can normally sit the DOH exam at home rather than flying to Abu Dhabi first. Two practical notes:

• The programme still runs under the code HAAD.Pearson VUE's official DOH test-centre finder and exam list use HAAD in their addresses — the authority renamed itself, the client code did not. Seeing the old name is not a sign you are on the wrong page.
• Seats are finite and local. Availability in your city drives your real timeline far more than the exam itself does. Check what is actually open before you promise an employer a date.

The ID policy: the single most expensive rule on this page

Pearson VUE requires two forms of valid, original identification, one of which must carry your signature:

• Your passport, and
• another government or official photo ID, such as a driving licence.

“Photo copies of identification will not be accepted for admission to the test centre.” And if you are refused admission, the published consequence is blunt: “payments for the exam and delivery fees are non-refundable or transferable to another exam date.” You pay again, and you queue again for a seat.

Print your Pearson VUE booking confirmation and bring it. Pearson VUE also states plainly that arriving on time is your responsibility, so plan the journey around traffic rather than around the appointment time.

Test day, in the order it happens

Arrival

“We ask that you arrive at the test centre 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.” Arrive 15 minutes or more late and “your admission to the test centre will be at the test centre's discretion” — which is to say it is no longer your decision, and the fee is already spent.

Check-in

You present both original IDs at reception. Staff verify your appointment and identity, take your photograph, and collect your signature on an electronic signature pad. You are then given a locker and key for your belongings, because nothing personal goes into the testing room.

What you may not take in

Pearson VUE's prohibited list for DOH candidates is:

• Mobile telephones and Bluetooth headphones
• PDAs and handbags
• Books and paper
• Drinks and food of any kind
• Medicines
• Pens, pencils and markers

During the exam

You are assigned a station with a computer, mouse and keyboard. Breaks are permitted — but Pearson VUE is clear that “the exam will not be stopped during the break and the exam time will continue count down and cannot be made up.” Any break you take is paid for out of your own exam time.

Your result, and where it actually matters

When you finish, “the test centre administrator will give you a printed Score Report that indicates whether you have passed or failed the exam.” Keep it.

That printout is not your licence, and Pearson VUE is not the body that acts on it. The outcome has to reach your DOH record before the next step of licensing can move, and the licence itself is issued in connection with an Abu Dhabi employer who activates it. Watch TAMM, not your inbox from the test provider, and confirm current processing times there rather than in a forum.

Before you pay: are you exempt?

Worth checking, because it is the one thing that makes this entire page unnecessary. Exam equivalency in the UAE is set in the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements, the document MOHAP, DOH, DHA and Sharjah assess nursing applications against — so the exemption criteria are not a Dubai-only concession. Check your own case against the current PQR version before you pay a pre-booking fee.

If you fail

The retake rules that bite are the authority's, not the test provider's. Pearson VUE will sell you another seat; whether the DOH will accept the attempt is a separate question — and the answer is not an Abu Dhabi answer. Attempts are capped by the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements, the document MOHAP, DOH, DHA and Sharjah assess against jointly, which grants the applicant three attempts to pass the examination across the Authorities and requires you to declare how many attempts you have already taken across them. Not three at the DOH and a fresh three in Dubai: three in total, UAE-wide, on a declaration you sign.

That is why failing your way around the Emirates does not work, and why the fourth-attempt routes are narrow and conditional rather than an entitlement. What this guide will not tell you

Deliberately: the exam fee, the pre-booking fee, the question count, the duration, the pass mark and any retake waiting period. The bottom line

The Abu Dhabi exam is booked in a chain, not a shop: DOH approval, then payment in TAMM, then a redirect that opens Pearson VUE's seat map to you. Once you have the appointment, the whole risk collapses into one morning — two original IDs with matching names, one of them signed, arriving half an hour early, and nothing in your pockets. Get that right and you walk out with a printed pass or fail; get it wrong and you pay for the seat twice.
